Die Österreichische Hochschüler:innenschaft und Unisport Austria im Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung luden aus Anlass des UNESCO International Day of University Sport am 20. September 2022 zu einem Runden Tisch zum Thema „College- und Universitätssport in Österreich“ ein.
Der Universitätssport ist kein Monolith, sondern besteht aus vielen Puzzleteilen, die ein Bild im gesamten Land ergeben. Am Runden Tisch nahmen daher 19 Vertreter:innen der Österreichischen Hochschüler:innenschaft (u.a. Vertreter:innen der Referate für Sport, Queer und ausländische Studierende), der Universitäts-Sportinstitute, der Austrian College Sports Leage (ACSL) und von Unisport Austria teil.
Es wurde ein reger und konstruktiver Austausch zu den Themen People of Color (PoC) und Rassismus, strukturelle Beteiligung von Randgruppen, Leistbarkeit der Partizipation am Sport, Reduzierung von Einstiegshürden, Schaffung von Privatsphäre v.a. für Queer-Personen sowie Vergleichswettkämpfe zwischen den Universitäten geführt.
Insgesamt wurde der Runde Tisch von den Teilnehmer:innen positiv bewertet, v.a. im Hinblick auf die Sichtbarmachung unterschiedlicher Standpunkte, die nicht Teil der täglichen Arbeit sind, und einem besseren Bild von der Realsituation aufgrund unterschiedlicher Blickwinkel.
On the occasion of the UNESCO International Day of University Sport on September 20, 2022, the Austrian Students‘ Union and Unisport Austria in the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research invited to a round table on „College and University Sport in Austria“.
University sport is not a monolith, but consists of many puzzle pieces that form a picture across the country. Therefore, 19 representatives of the Austrian Students‘ Union (including representatives of the departments for sports, queer and foreign students), the university sports institutes, the Austrian College Sports League (ACSL), and Unisport Austria took part in the round table.
There was a lively and constructive exchange on the topics of people of color (PoC) and racism, structural participation of marginalized groups, affordability of participation in sport, reducing barriers to entry, creating privacy, especially for queer people, and comparative competitions between the universities.
Overall, the round table was rated positively by the participants, especially with regard to the visualization of different points of view that are not part of the daily work and a better picture of the real situation due to different perspectives.
